Getting threatened with a spanking by Mr. Pikey-who would pull out a fraternity paddle labeled “Board of Education” if you got sent to the Principle’s office for misbehaving. Sneaking out the backdoor to run wild in the night with my best buds and lusting after college boys from Wash U who were way too old for us and bad influences to boot…driving around aimlessly with the windows down and the wind rolling over you in the backseat on long hot summer nights when there wasn’t anything else to do but drive endlessly around because you were only 16 with a brand new drivers license but too young to buy beer or get into a bar. Slumber parties…lying in bed, talking girl talk in the smoky darkness until the wee hours of the morning… when the whole of our lives were still ahead of us and all of our dreams and expectations were forever backlit by the fluorescent red and green neon from the L.E.Ds on the stereo. Weekends in New Melle at Fay Smethurst’s farm…riding horses every single minute of the day and going bowling at the New Melle Inn on the way home on Sundays. Being able to see some of the greatest bands that ever toured at Kiel Opera House or the Fox Theater or the Arena…when you could buy tickets for the price of your weekly allowance and still have enough left over for a trip to Acapulco. |

Married and divorced…but still play golf and hang out with ALL my exes! Finally finished the quest for the golden fleece, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Communications from U of MO-St. Louis after dropping out of Mizzou all those years ago. Obviously, kissing Bobby Moog for the Yearbook photo didn’t shut me up for long, as the arc of my career path has continued to travel along these lines…. I spent 10 years in radio, 8 at KSHE 95 where I had a blast doing something that couldn’t really be called a job because progressive rock is a religion. Currently working for Anheuser-Busch in the Tourism division educating people about the world’s top selling lager, which can’t really be called a job either because it’s all about beer and that’s pretty much a religion. Hoping to retire someday to |
