Family

Mike Conner – my husband.  He is an Archaeologist and currently works with Southwest Missouri State University in the Center for Archaeological Research.

CHS Memories (Friends, Funniest story, Teachers, Events, Activities, Sports, Songs, Would like to forget…, etc.)

I had good friends that helped me through those times, I would especially thank those friends:  Mary Webb, Shelley Mayer, Nancy Cook – we had some good times and some bad times (and sometimes that we were lucky we lived through!)

After High School (Career, Accomplishments, Favorite Activities, Message to classmates…, etc.)

I went right into the working world – had enough of school & not much guidance towards the academic world.  Had many jobs & met a lot of interesting people.  Started college in earnest in 1981.  I attended Fontbonne Colleg for one and a half years, but ended up graduating from University of MO – St. Louis in 1984 with a Bachelor’s in Social Work.  I started my graduate work in 1989 @ St. Louis University while working full-time @ the Division of Family Services.  I found that schedule to be too grueling for a fun-loving single, so I didn’t finish my coursework – something I regret quite often.

I met my  husband in 1991 on a blind date.  We had a long-distance relationship as he worked for the Center for American Archaeology in Kampsville, IL.  I used to love my weekend trips up the River Road and lived there for a short time after we married in 1992 (1st’s for both of us!)  I definitely had an adjustment to rural life that 1st year and a half we were there.  Then, there was the flood of ’93.  What an awesome thing nature is!

We moved to Southwest MO in 1994.  Another adjustment!  The Bible Belt!  I never knew that Baptists had issues w/Catholics until I moved here!  But, I enjoy it here – we live in the country with our two black labs and two cats.  We have so many fantastic rivers to canoe in the area and with the  “natural state” of Arkansas right next door, there are so many more beautiful places to canoe & hike.  Ya’ll come & visit – anytime!

After working for the Division of Family Services for 14 years (7 ˝ in St. Louis City) I left in 2000 just a “little” burned out.  I worked for the Census that year – that was really interesting & met some wonderful and quirky people.  I have been working in the business world for the last four years – the company I work for outsources with hospitals to assist self-pay patients in qualifying for Medicaid, Social Security and other programs.  I’ve enjoyed this work too, but am looking now for something else.  Change is definitely not something I fear!
