Sam Wee and I celebrated our 25th anniversary last December; Adam (17) and Rebecca (14). [They look so formal only before an orchestra concert!] |
CHS Memories (Friends, Funniest story, Teachers, Events, Activities, Sports, Songs, Would like to forget…, etc.)

Before school chorus – when asked recently with whom I’d studied voice. I should have said “Dr. Pro.” Mr. Adzick – taught me how to do history; that got me through college (medieval Christianity). Miss Eason – who took time to teach us philosophy of life in the midst of algebra & trig. The musicals! |

I met Sam in college in Massachusetts, and I’ve been a transplanted New Englander ever since. My first “date” with Sam was going to a college production of “Bye, bye, Birdie” when he was playing violin in the pit orchestra. Both our kids now have the musical bug, and we have a string trio in the family, with Adam on cello and Rebecca making a transition from violin to viola. (I’ve not kept up the organ – my church has a nice pipe organ, but it feels like playing hooky to leave my study to play around on keys and pedals.)
I got to my real calling when I went to Yale Divinity School. Having grown up on a insular Lutheran campus, I have loved working in a more ecumenical world ever since. Enjoying Sabbath services with classmates in the years at CHS was probably an indication of my love of things both religious and interfaith. I was ordained in 1984, and am now serving my 3rd parish.
Sam’s work for a software company keeps him on the commuters’ train to Manhattan and regular travel to Germany. Both of us working full-time has often led to “ships passing in the night” syndrome. Knitting is my personal stress-reliever. It’s funny to see that it is now a hip, cool thing with people 25 years younger than we are. |
