CHS Memories (Friends, Funniest story, Teachers, Events, Activities, Sports, Songs, Would like to forget…, etc.)
|
Quote from current C&W song: “Nights I can’t remember; friends I will never forget.” (T. Keith.) Memories are all about people. Jamie, Carol, Theresa, Monaghan, Fishel, Hufford, Fishbein, AP Chemistry buddies, and so many teammates who were my life in 1970-74.
Monaghan remembers the score of every game; I just remember how much fun I had playing sports with many of you.
Frank Quiring. (“I like a man who says what he means and means what he says.”) Quiring taught us a lot more than Chemistry.
Pep pals. Was that a great concept or what? Chocolate-chip cookies in your locker the day of the game. I have not been so pampered since.

After High School (Career, Accomplishments, Favorite Activities, Message to classmates…, etc.)
|
Wabash College: (800 students. Wabash’s claim to fame is that it is still an all-male college. Duff will remember our campus visit “road trip” in 1973.)
Vanderbilt Law School: J.D. 1981. Nashville is quite a town. My eldest is a frosh there now.
Dallas: In 1981, finished school, got married, moved to Dallas, started my first (real) job, bought a car and found a place to live. Almost 25 years later, same city, same wife, and same job.
Locke Liddell & Sapp: Work at typical large law firm, defending the rights of down-trodden corporate America. I am a business trial lawyer. Basically figure out ways to resolve commercial disputes (sometimes through trial at the courthouse). I have enjoyed the association with many folks at this firm, over the years, and have been involved in various aspects of managing the firm. The law business is a real people business.
Life: “These are the good old days….” (C. Simon.) My family is a real source of joy to me. Raising three kids can be a challenge, but a fulfilling one. Having two daughters who are now where we were then makes me wonder where the days have gone. CHS seems like not long ago.
My kids say I am “addicted” to coaching grade school basketball. I have enjoyed coaching each of my kids, and their classmates. You learn a lot about kids doing that.
Regrets: “Regrets, I have a few, but too few to mention.” (Sinatra)
“Do-Overs” · Would get to know better Amy Lessor, Dori Donnell, and Julie Landau. What genuine people. · Would have asked permission to live in Davis place – what a cool collection of classmates. · Basbetball Regional Semi-Final Playoff Game. We needed one more basket.
Excited: Really looking forward to seeing folks at our 30th. (I must admit, our 20th reunion was one of my favorite all-time parties! Topped off by Steak ‘n Shake at 1:30 a.m.)
