CHS Memories (Friends, Funniest story, Teachers, Events, Activities, Sports, Songs, Would like to forget…, etc.)

Loved the education and warmth of the Clayton High School community.  I didn’t appreciate at the time, how lucky we were to have such incredible facilities and faculty for a class of less than 200.  Good times playing “spin the bottle” at Lesser’s; hanging out with the gang at the corner of Davis Dr and Meramec; Talent Show ’74; Lou Deal’s physics class; water polo, playing football on the island in front of Moog and Eidelman’s, the first time listening to Tommy by The Who.

After High School (Career, Accomplishments, Favorite Activities, Message to classmates…, etc.)

College at University of Michigan, Washington University and Indiana University.  My professional career was launched at IBM.  I spent five years selling the “big computers’ to Fortune 500 companies.  My partner for the first 18 months was John Chambers (current CEO of Cisco).  Subsequent to IBM, I have spent the 22 years as an entrepreneur in the technology sector.  I have operated five companies as president and sold all with the exception of the current venture, I started three years ago.  The life of an entrepreneur is filled with high risk, great potential rewards, terrific stress and lots of hours of work.  You might of heard of one of my companies….FastWEB (the largest web based scholarship search service….with over 1/3 of all high school students using the services and over 5,000 new registrants every day….we sold the company to Monster four years ago.  I also have spent significant time in the volunteer community and started a program to educate high school students in the Chicago’s inner-city on the use of technology.  We built a curriculum, found and trained volunteer teachers and started in one school.  The City of Chicago took over the program several years ago…..and the initiative is now in 18 high school in Chicago and has impacted over 8,000 high school students
