CHS Memories (Friends, Funniest story, Teachers, Events, Activities, Sports, Songs, Would like to forget…, etc.)

Like so many others I really want to thank Andy and the entire committee (Mary, Patti, Duff, Jim, Jane, Cubby, Annette, Ringo, George, John, Paul and the rest) for pulling this off. This is really more than a reunion—its, well, the epitome of reuniting—and it feels so good. –enough Peaches and Herb-now more about me.. My memories are still with me everyday and I use the stories about my time with all of you to help raise my kids. They make great bedtime stories. The morals of getting suspended for stealing Mr. Trickey’s Bible, the experiences in the bathroom avoiding Mr. Hamilton in 9th grade, the open lunches with Peter Cannon at Bettendorfs (before it was Schnucks) where we bought the packaged meats and then ordered a Coke from the Coffee Shop, the train hopping, the brilliance of Mary Weitzman’s parents to get her friends to always hang out in her basement, 6 years of sage advice by my locker mates David Monaghan and Mary Ann Molloy, the coaches especially Hovda, helping to organize events like the Superstars and the class sleepover, spray painting the quad with Amy Lesser, and falsifying letters of recommendation for David Stone are all strong experiences that make great stories for my kids. Many of our teachers seemed pretty worthless at the time, but we all had some very special gems—I have accessed my memories of refraction angles of water and glass to help Nina with science, my Geoff Morrison memories about the American Revolution (where Tom Garfinkel) and I sat on the side and talked bullshit for nine months) to help my daughter, Maia and Mr. Barthel’s recreation of The Congress of Vienna to help me get through a course in college. I don’t have much that I would like to forget except for my dismal performance at proms—my apologies to all of those girls who got stuck with me for those (hopefully) forgettable nights….

After High School (Career, Accomplishments, Favorite Activities, Message to classmates…, etc.)

The past thirty years have been filled with lots of excitement and good times. I went to college with Riv Weber and Bill Stewart at Stanford and then settled in California. I am writing puzzle books and creating games at University Games in San Francisco and having a super time. Please come by and visit. We give free samples to all visitors!
I have kept in touch with about 10 classmates and I am looking forward to seeing everyone else. For those of you who are on the fence—drop by on Friday night at the Chase or Saturday night at the Knight Center. I would love to see my cousin Billy Arndt, Sherry Kusmer, Mary Weitzman, Jeff Lowe------and everyone else who is in town—but missing in action.
