Family

My two excellent companions—one beau, one cat (Jeff Novak, and Ginger, respectively)—have both been around a long time, though Ginger lives with me and Jeff lives in California. He works for the Forest Service as a wilderness manager on the John Muir Wilderness (Mt. Whitney area).  We are a lot alike—love hiking and skiing and driving the four summits between our two homes. We are trying to find ways to live in the same state, and yes, even get hitched at some point.  No kidlets, but plenty of students. And my five siblings are all well!

CHS Memories (Friends, Funniest story, Teachers, Events, Activities, Sports, Songs, Would like to forget…, etc.)

I remember getting into all kinds of trouble with many accomplices. Staying up all night on the quad, for some senior year thing? Many good friends that I am still in contact with-- Shelley, Katie, and Anne B. have offered much peer pressure for my attendance! Kathy Perry was a great pal and sent photos of a prom I’d completely forgotten (anyone else doing that lately?).  I’ve enjoyed seeing all the many photos on the website and thank Andy for his work. I’d agree with many of you who’ve said CHS gave us a great education and preparation for the world.

After High School (Career, Accomplishments, Favorite Activities, Message to classmates…, etc.)

I’ve been teaching English at the University of Nevada, in Reno, since 1985. I graduated with an MA in English from NAU in Flagstaff—another great educational experience-- and found this job right away. I’ve been very fortunate to teach great students work with good people and, run our writing program. I am now aiming for a sabbatical in 05.  My teaching specialties are environmental nonfiction and tech writing. I published a book called A Doubtful River (with two collaborating photographers) in 2000, about  the Truckee River and water use in the desert. Thanks for sharing your great bios, too!
